On Wednesday, June 1, 2017 Apex hosted its first multicultural dance performance with students from South Korea. About 30 students, ages 16 and 17, who have been exemplary students immersed in learning the English language and American Culture, as well as dance and cultural arts, were chosen to spend two months in New York. These students traveled around the East Coast, volunteering their time to perform for skilled nursing facilities as a way to “give-back” to others. The students performed dances from a variety of cultural backgrounds and themes including American pop culture, the South Pacific Islands and India. After the performance, students were encouraged to mingle with staff and residents to practice their English and share their personal experiences since visiting America.
