Dear Mr. Skutzka:

My husband Peter Ex. Dammers, Jr., was a patient at Apex from August 10, 2012 until the day he passed away April 15, 2013. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and commend your exceptional staff. I hope this letter helps the staff realize how their work has a profound impact on the families of Apex patients. The Apex staff is the absolute best.

Let me begin by saying that the aides and nurses in Unit B were extremely kind and attentive. They were understanding and considerate of both the patient and the family. Their job is so much more than just taking care of daily tasks. I can attest to this personally and this is where the Apex staff stands head and shoulders above other facilities. Whenever Peter needed anything they were there to help him. They were responsive to questions and concerns without hesitation.

I have to take a moment to point out two exceptional staff members, Dolcy and Manice in Unit B. Peter was so fortunate to have such patient, caring and gentle aides to help him. To me, these two aides were outstanding. These staff members deserve special recognition. Nurses Sally and Debbie in Unit B were also wonderful with Peter and always took such great care of him.

I have to say that in my experience, every staff member in Unit B and Apex as a whole, from the front desk to the administration were friendly and showed kindness and understanding. I am not sure that all of you know how much your attitudes and hard work really impact the patients and their families. We appreciate all you do and the amazing people you are to work in this particular field. I just want to thank everyone that helped Peter and say job well done. May God continue to bless you all. I will never forget Apex and the incredible work of this very special staff.

Believe me if you knew how poor other places are you would be very upset and one important thing is that you treat all people with respect. Other places do not treat people with respect and dignity. It’s really sad and depressing being a patient at many other places. At Apex, they truly care about YOU! And that makes all the difference in the world in your care and recovery!
